What does electric patio heater cost in power usage?
It is fairly easy to calculate what a patio heater will use. This of course depends on the type of patio heater, if you’re using electricity or gas and on the contract you have with your power supplier. In this example we use a fictitious price for electricity of 0.22 € per kWh. Always check for current prices on your energy supplier’s website.
Say you have a patio of 12 m & sup2; (about 3.5 x 3.5 metres). To heat this patio well, you could for example, use 2 Solamagic 1400 patio heaters.
A Solamagic 1400 consumes 1.4 kilowatts per hour. Two pieces will therefore use 2.8 kWh per hour. As mentioned above, 1 kWh costs 0.22 cents. This comes down to: 2.8 x € 0.22 = € 0.62 euro per hour.
Using a patio heater in enclosed areas
Electric patio heater may very well be used in enclosed spaces as well. This way of heating does not use any oxygen so it is safe to use indoors. Patio heaters are often used in sheds or utility rooms as well. You don't need to heat the entire space if you only want to be there briefly. Switch on the heater and within 1 second, there will be heat. Please note that it can be extremely dangerous to use gas-fired appliances indoors!
