TIPS AND ADVICE FOR USING THE OFYR

Have you purchased an OFYR Barbecue or are you considering doing that, we would like to provide you with some additional information about the use and maintenance of the OFYR.

OFYR is thé new outdoor cooking. The conical fire shell has a wide, flat edge that you use as a kind of tepanyaki or plancha. From the middle the heat radiates in a smooth flow to the outside, which gives the plate several cooking temperatures. Whether you cook a piece of meat or fish, bake eggs or cook vegetables slowly, with the OFYR Barbecue you will discover a whole new world of outdoor cooking opportunities.

BEFORE USE

The OfYR works best after it has been used once or twice and oil is burned in the plate. This facilitates the baking process and protects the plate from rust when it is not in use. The new plate may feel sticky because it has already been planted with vegetable oil for protection in our factory.

When burning a fire for the first time, it is necessary to make a small fire for the first 20-25 minutes, and do not increase it until afterwards. Because the plate becomes significantly warmer on the inside than on the outside, the plate will always drain when heated. However, when the first  fire becomes too large, the plate will be much hollower in the future than when this fire is gradually being built up. The plate has to settle. This procedure is no longer required after the first time of stoking.

To cook, it is best to use vegetable oil with a high degree of combustion, such as sunflower oil. However, for a beautiful brown / black color on the plate, it is advisable to use olive oil for the first time.

USE THE OFYR BARBECUE

Temperature

If the fire in the OFYR burns well, it will take about 30-45 minutes before reaching the maximum boiling temperature of about 250-300 ° C. The plate becomes warmest in the middle. Both the place where the wood is laid as well as the wind also affect the place where the plate becomes the warmest. When heated, the plate becomes slightly hollow toward the center. This does not affect the baking process, and if the plate has cooled, it will automatically retract.

Oil

When the plate starts to warm, scratch it easily with a spatula to remove any oil or grease residues from the previous use. Then rewind the plate with oil and add some extra oil to the place where you are going to bake. While baking you can add oil as needed. As a nice accessory for ORYR, a decorative OFYR oil can can be obtained

Wooden boards

To slowly garnish food or give a smoke flavor, put the ingredients on cedar boards on the ORYR plate. These cedar boards are available at Firepit-online.com.

AFTER USE

Extinguish the fire

It's easiest to let the fire go out of its own. Or you can put the optional lid on the plate to speed up the deafening. If you want to swallow the fire quickly, you can also cautiously pour water into the fire (this does not damage the OFYR but care for smoke and soot). WARNING: The OFYR may be hot for hours after use.

Cleaning

Once the plate has cooled to a lukewarm temperature, scratch it again with the spatula and rub it with oil again. The plate is then well protected against possible rust and ready for the next use.

The ashes can easily be removed from the cone (without removing the plate). Take care that the ashes are completely cooled when it is thrown away.

Maintenance

The OFYR needs little maintenance. He can stand outside without cover, all year round. However, it should be noted that the hole in the cone does not clog wityh ashes of leaves, for example

The corten steel pedestal and cone will become increasingly darker in the course of time. This rust layer is the protection against rusting. Stronger rusting on the plate (due to low usage or non-good oils) can be removed with a brush or abrasive device. The tray looks like new. The more often the plate is used, the better it is protected from rust, because oil is regularly burned. So the best way to take care of the OFYR is to use it a lot.

Thanks to the three modular parts (pedestal, cone and baking tray) the OFYR is easy to move. The three parts can be lifted and moved separately.
