With the höfats MOON 45 Plancha BBQ Set you bring a fire pit and outdoor kitchen together in one. The set consists of the MOON 45 fire pit and the matching cast-iron plancha ring. Depending on your preference, you can choose either the low cast-iron base or the higher stainless steel base.

Cooking around the fire with the plancha

The plancha ring fits neatly around the opening of the MOON, so you can cook all the way around the fire. The cast iron stores heat very well and distributes it evenly across the whole ring. As you cook, moisture released from the food evaporates quickly and forms a thin layer between the plancha and the food. This means you need little to no added fat, the inside stays juicy and the outside becomes nicely crisp. While you are cooking on the plate, you still have a clear view of the flames in the centre.

Cleaner fire thanks to wood gasification

DThe MOON uses wood-gasification technology. Inside the fire pit, the wood or pellets are first heated, releasing combustible gases. The double-walled construction and split airflow ensure that these gases are burned again in a second phase. Beneath the opening there is a perforated ring through which preheated air flows out. This air mixes with the rising gases and creates a calm, even flame, with less smoke than a traditional fire pit and an efficient burn with relatively little ash.

Wood for atmosphere, pellets for convenience

You can use the MOON 45 in two ways. With firewood for that familiar campfire feeling: you build up the fire, add logs from time to time and have a lot of control over how lively and high the flames become, while the burn is still cleaner than in a standard fire pit. Or you fire it with pellets when convenience matters most. Fill the fire pit with around 10–12 kg of pellets and you can enjoy up to about two hours of a stable, very clean play of flames without refilling. Ideal during a dinner or a long evening outdoors.

High or low: choose your setup

You can choose between two different bases. The low cast-iron base brings the fire pit closer to the ground and works well next to a lounge set, low chairs or floor cushions. You sit close to the fire and the plancha feels almost like a compact version of cooking over a campfire. With the higher stainless steel base, the fire pit is at a comfortable height, ideal on a terrace with standard garden chairs or higher loungers. The cast-iron ring at the bottom of the stand provides extra stability and a calm, clean look.

Materials and care

The inner shell of the MOON is made from stainless steel. The outer shell and the ash tray are made from enamelled steel with a durable black finish. The plancha ring and the low base are cast iron. The high base and the extension piece are brushed stainless steel. Once everything has cooled down, you simply remove the ash tray from the fire pit to empty the ash. After cooking, you can clean the plancha with a scraper or spatula and, if you like, lightly oil it. This keeps the set looking good and pleasant to use for a long time.
