The cast iron heats up gradually and evenly and retains heat, so you grill at the right temperature with just a layer of smoldering coals. Cast iron is known for its unparalleled durability. With proper maintenance, the grill acquires a natural non-stick coating that only gets better with age. The more often you use and season it, the better it performs.
Practical grill grid
The smart, portable design makes it easy to take the grill and adapter to your next adventure. Whether you're camping, grilling in the garden or throwing an outdoor party, this system will have you preparing grill dishes in no time.
Cooking with a cast iron grill rack
- Like other cast iron products, the grill must first be seasoned. After 8 to 10 burn-ins, a natural non-stick coating develops. Allow an additional 30 minutes or so for this before cooking. - Preferably use kiln-dried hardwood such as oak or maple. Avoid softwood, plywood, chemically treated or painted wood. For ideal heat, use 4 to 6 medium-sized, split logs that you let burn to a layer of hot coals. - Make sure the flames don't get too high. You get the best results with a low, even layer of coals. - Proper maintenance ensures a lifetime of enjoyment, so clean the grill properly. Start by wiping away grease and food residue while the plate is still hot, then rinse the plate with hot water. Do not use soap and never soak or submerge the plate! Dry the grill thoroughly and rub it with a thin layer of oil before storing it.
