Garden fireplace with chimney
A garden fireplace with chimney is an outdoor fireplace designed to make fire and provide warmth in the garden. These garden fireplaces come with a chimney as standard, allowing the smoke to migrate safely away and not directly into the garden or canopy. This makes it more comfortable and safe to sit outside by the fire, especially if you live in an area where there is little wind. In addition, many fireplaces can have an additional stove pipe added to route the smoke outlet past a canopy, for example.

- Smoke exhaust
The main function of the chimney is to safely exhaust smoke. When placing a garden fireplace under a canopy, it is essential that the chimney has enough space to allow the smoke to be drawn away properly. A canopy that is too low can obstruct smoke extraction, which is not only uncomfortable but can also be dangerous. Make sure there is enough ventilation around the chimney to prevent smoke from accumulating.
- Safety
Place the garden fireplace and chimney at a safe distance from combustible materials such as wooden beams or walls in the canopy. A minimum distance of 1-2 metres between the fireplace and combustible surfaces is advised. This will prevent fire hazards arising from the heat generated by the fireplace.
Extension chimney
If you want to place your patio stove under a veranda or canopy, it is important to think carefully about the smoke outlet and the proper extension of the stove pipe. While lengthening the stove pipe is sometimes necessary to drain the smoke properly, it can also affect the draft in the pipe, resulting in smoke escaping the front of the stove. To avoid this, it is important to extend the pipe as little as possible and ensure a good flow of smoke.
When extending the stove pipe, pay attention to several important things: The height of the pipe, the number of bends and the diameter of the pipe should all be properly matched to the specifications of your garden stove. It is also important to choose the right stove pipe: single-walled for short distances and double-walled when the pipe has to go through the roof. Using double-walled pipes is essential to ensure fire safety and comply with regulations.
The type of fireplace also plays a role: garden fireplaces with an open door or spark screen can cause more smoke problems than enclosed wood stoves. Keep these factors in mind to safely and efficiently enjoy your patio stove under the canopy.
Garden fireplace with chimney in winter
A garden fireplace with chimney can also be used outside in winter, but there are some things to keep in mind. Check that the chimney is free of ice or snow to ensure proper smoke removal. Garden fireplaces can provide warmth on cold winter nights, but bear in mind that it may take longer for the fireplace to provide sufficient heat in very low temperatures.
